Android: the future of Smartphones

Article by Sirena Alex

Way back in 1992, no one had the idea that smartphones will be rage in today technically advanced world and everyone would be using a smartphone to do basic things like checking emails, sending photos etc. Later on came in Nokia’s communicator and as the technology advanced we got iOS, Android, BlackBerry and much more apart from Nokia’s Symbian OS. Nokia the market leader at one point lost its share to Google’s Android. With the introduction of smartphones mobile apps have also created a niche for themselves and they have changed the way businesses engage and communicate with other businesses and their consumers. Apple was the first one to launch mobile applications via App store and later on Android followed Apple by launching App Marketplace.

A recent study that was conducted showed that Apple is among the toppers when it comes to apps in the market as they have over 350,000 apps on the App store till June 2011 but as we all know that Android is gaining pace and moving at par with iOS Google confirmed that Android Market also has over 200,000 apps as compared to the figures in 2010 where Apple had 185,000 apps as compared to Android’s 38,000. The figures show clearly that Android is catching up and is going to leave iOS behind in the near future. Also recently a study conducted by GetJar revealed than more than 40% of the people want to buy Android and only around 20% feel that their next phone will be an iPhone.

Developers love to work on Android as this is the most flexible platform. At the same time the biggest advantage with Android is that once the apps are submitted on Android Marketplace it gets approved immediately and is available for the users to download it where as this is not the case with Apple as there the approval takes time when an app is submitted and also sometimes gets rejected. With many device options in Android the customer base for this OS increases.

Application development on android has gained speed and its market share and productivity has grown drastically in few months. With the popularity of Android OS developers the mobile app developing vendors are working to deliver industry best Android Apps for the app store of Android. Android is definitely here to stay and with the rise in its demand soon it will leave iOS behind.

The release of the iPhone 4S made a lot of iPhone fanatics celebrate. We all know how amazing Apple has been in giving us environment-friendly handsets. Apples’ offering does not end there. The release of the 4S gave Apple more fans than ever before.

So what can this handset offer us that its predecessor can’t? The answer is, a lot! Let us start with its dual-core processor as opposed to iPhone 4′s single-core processor. The 4S comes with an 8MP camera, while its predecessor comes with 5MP camera only. The latest version is currently running iOS 5, while the other one is ships pre-installed with iOS 4. These are just some of the things that makes the Apple iPhone 4S more famous than its predecessor.

With over 200 latest software features, the 4S is now considered as the most advanced handset with the most advanced mobile OS (operating system). It is also considered as the most powerful iPhone handset to date. It runs in 2 cores in the A5 chip. This is capable of delivering two times more power and with up to 7 times faster graphics. You will instantly notice its effect; this is most especially true if you are familiar with its predecessor. It is built to be responsive. This will allow you to experience the difference when you are playing your games, launching apps, surfing the web, and almost about everything. You can do a lot of things with this handset and you can also keep on doing it. Its powerful A5 chip is truly power-efficient. When it comes to battery life, you are guaranteed to have a long-lasting one.

The advantage of this handset over its predecessor includes a pre-installed Siri. You can use your voice and simply talk to Siri. This program is built to just not understand what you say but to know exactly what you mean. It is capable of figuring out the right apps that you want as its answer. Now you can have your personal assistant without paying for it, and best of all it will answer you. This personal assistant is capable of sending your text messages, making a phone call, setting your reminders, scheduling your meetings, giving you recipes, and a whole lot more.

Android OS- the perfect blend of sustainability and quality

Article by Sushant

Android OS has become famous and all praises in a very limited time. This proves the mettle of the manufacturer. Android is an operating system for mobile devices such as Smartphones and tablet computers. It is developed by the Open Handset Alliance led by Google.

Google purchased the initial developer of the software, Android Inc., in 2005. Google released most of the Android code under the Apache License, a free software license. The Android Open Source Project (AOSP) is tasked with the maintenance and further development of Android.

Android consists of a kernel based on the Linux kernel, with middleware, libraries and APIs written in C and application software running on an application framework which includes Java-compatible libraries based on Apache Harmony. Android uses the Dalvik virtual machine with just-in-time compilation to run Dalvik bytecode, which is usually translated from Java bytecode. Android has a large community of developers writing applications (“apps”) that extend the functionality of the devices. Developers write primarily in a customized version of Java. There are currently approximately 300,000 apps available for Android, from a total of 500,000 apps over the life of Android. Apps can be downloaded from third-party sites or through online stores such as Android Market, the app store run by Google.

Android was listed as the best-selling Smartphone platform worldwide in Q4 2010 by Canalys with over 190 million Android devices in use by October 2011. Latest Android Phone Review has seen a number of updates since its original release, each fixing bugs and adding new features. Each version is named, in alphabetical order, after a dessert.

2.3 Gingerbread refined the user interface, improved the soft keyboard and copy/paste features, and improved gaming performance. 3.0 Honeycomb was a tablet-oriented release which supports larger screen devices and introduces many new user interface features.3.1 Honeycomb, released in May 2011, added support for extra input devices, USB host mode for transferring information directly from cameras and other devices. 3.2 Honeycomb, released in July 2011, added optimization for a broader range of screen sizes, new “zoom-to-fill” screen compatibility mode, loading media files directly from SD card. 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, announced on October 19, 2011, brought Honeycomb features to Smartphones and added new features including facial recognition unlock, network data usage monitoring and control, etc.

The Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich is providing a treat to many handsets and tech devices. Latest Android Phone Review reveals all the deserts running on Smartphones.

I have written many articles, blogs, contents, news and reviews etc. At
